Abuja – The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, on Monday, paid a visit to the party’s Anambra State governorship candidate, Amb. Jude Ezenwafor, who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Abuja following an Assassination Attempt.

Amb. Ezenwafor, the PDP flagbearer for the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election, narrowly escaped death after being ambushed and shot by unknown assailants while returning from an appointment in Abuja. He sustained bullet wounds during the attack and was rushed to the hospital where he is currently recuperating.
Naijadailyng247 had earlier reported the news of an assassination attempt on the life of the Guber candidate in Abuja, it was also alleged in Sunday that Chief Jude was dead, a story which was refuted by his media team.
Accompanying the Acting National Chairman on the visit were the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, and the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, who represented the broader leadership of the PDP.
The party delegation expressed deep shock and sadness over the violent attack, describing it as a disturbing development in the nation’s democratic process. They offered prayers for Amb. Ezenwafor’s speedy recovery and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for him during this critical time.
“The leadership of the PDP stands firmly with Amb. Ezenwafor and his family, and we are optimistic that justice will prevail. We call on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book,” the delegation said.
The visit underscores the PDP’s solidarity with its candidate and its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its members, especially those participating in upcoming elections.
