In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday through her spokesperson, Dike Bekwele, Judith described the claims as “absurd, baseless and a figment of Wike’s imagination.”
Wike, during a recent interview in July 2025, alleged that Mrs. Amaechi received a total of ₦48 billion from the NDDC under the guise of women empowerment and training initiatives. He also claimed she had been indicted in an NDDC corruption probe.
Reacting, Judith Amaechi dismissed the allegations, clarifying that neither she nor the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), a non-profit she founded, had ever received ₦4 billion monthly or been indicted in any audit report.
“Dame Amaechi did not and has never received ₦4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission,” the statement read. “The partnership between ESI and the NDDC was reciprocal, aimed at jointly funding human capacity development programs for youth and women in the Niger Delta.”
The former Rivers First Lady also described Wike’s allegations as an attempt at “subtle blackmail” to score cheap political points, adding that the NDDC forensic audit report cited by Wike has not been made public and therefore cannot be used to accuse anyone.
She challenged Wike to produce the audit report that allegedly indicted her or ESI.
“In the likely event that Wike fails to provide such a report, then we challenge him to actuate his boast and tender his resignation as Minister of the FCT, along with an unreserved apology to the Nation,” the statement concluded.
