Abuja — The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Dr. Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, on Monday decorated 28 newly promoted senior police officers at a colourful ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The promotion exercise saw 12 Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), while 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs). The event was witnessed by families, friends, senior police officers, and dignitaries from across the country.

 

The promotions were approved by the Police Service Commission following the recommendation of the IGP, and are part of a broader welfare reform agenda introduced under his leadership. The current administration has recorded the highest number of promotions in the Force within the shortest time frame.

 

Prominent among the newly decorated AIGs are Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, Enyinnaya Adiogu fsi, Ronke Nurat Okunade fsi, Johnson Oluwole Adenola, Hassan Audu Yabanet, Chinedu Oko, Aminu Baba Raji, Omolara Oloruntola, Akoh Benedict Gabriel, Tijani Ahmadu Abdullahi (rtd), Mohammed Usman, and Bretet Emmanuel.

 

Those promoted from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police to Commissioner of Police include Sheik Mohammed Danko, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, Charles Dike, Victor Erivwode, Nnanna Oji Ama, Michael Falade, Yakubu Dankaro, Gabriel Elaigwu, Emefile Tony Osifo fsi, Umar Ahmed Chuso, Aina Adesola, Uduak Uta, Sylvester Edogbanya fsi, Musa Muhammed Sani, Omoikhudu Philip, and Innocent Anagbado.

 

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Senator Oyewunmi Olalere, Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Finance; Rt. Hon. Obi Aguoda, Member, House of Representatives; Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development; Femi Mohammed Sheidu, Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund; members of the Force Management Team, retired senior officers, and other well-wishers.

 

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, IGP Egbetokun urged them to embrace innovation in their approach to policing, build stronger ties with the communities they serve, and uphold the fundamental rights of all citizens.

 

 “Policing in the 21st century requires creativity, public trust, and proactive engagement with citizens. I urge you to lead with integrity and commitment,” the IGP stated.
