The Minister of Transport, Senator Saidu Alkali, disclosed this on Wednesday during a government-citizen engagement forum held at Arewa House in Kaduna. According to the Minister, the secured financing covers the entire 1,443-kilometre stretch of the corridor, which cuts across Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Benue States.
Senator Alkali also announced the rehabilitation of the old Lagos–Kano Narrow Gauge line, noting that freight services have resumed, linking the Apapa Port in Lagos to the Kano Inland Dry Port.
The rail developments are part of the government’s broader efforts to boost infrastructure, facilitate trade, and enhance connectivity across the country.
