The Chairman Judicial Panel of inquiry on the recovery of Government Property’s and Funds Justice Florence Doruoha-Igwe Rtd has expressed sadness over the response of the Immediate Past SSG Mr Chris Ezem,
Justice Doruoha-Igwe Rtd said that on two occasions Mr Ezem have failed to appear before the panel adding that the panel would afford them another opportunity to appear.
She directed the council to the two respondents Mr Christian Nwokorie to serve his clients notice to appear before the panel on 15/2/2024.
Also the Panel has graciously release the key to a Blue Pick Up Hilux Van earlier seized from the Procurement Specialist with Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project Mr Iheanyi Nnodimele which was under investigation by the panel.
Speaking after Handing over the vehicle to Mr Nnodimele, Justice Doruoha-Igwe Rtd directed him to obtain a paper from the Transport Unit Government House showing that the vehicle was properly documented.
Meanwhile the panel also crossed examined the Executive Chairman Board Of Internal Revenue ,Prof Udochukwu Ogbonna, speaking Prof Ogbonna informed the panel that the present administration in the state led by Dr Alex Otti on assumption of office banned all forms of illegal revenue collection in the State and engaged the services of government approved consultants who generate revenue and pays directly into Government Designated Bank Accounts.
In his submission the Immediate Past Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Finance,Mr Kelechi Alozie said that monies realized from from companies partnering the State Government were paid directly into the State Government Coffers adding that during his tenure ASEPA received the sum of #111,000,000 for the procurement waste bins.
Our Correspondent reports that the panel also entertained a petition filed by some Elders of Bende LGA led by Chief Stanley David against some of their Stakeholders in the council over the alleged Government Lands encroachment ,sale or lease of Government Property’s in the area.
