A former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.
“I have officially joined the APC by registering as a member of Isiama ward,” Uchendu said in a chat with The Whisperer.
While appreciating the leadership of the party for admitting him into the party, he applauded the performance of the two APC federal lawmakers from Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North), and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu (APC, Bende).
He urged other elected lawmakers to emulate the APC lawmakers, stating “What I have seen here is quite impressive. This is unprecedented in the history of Abia State; federal lawmakers building schools, constructing roads, reconstructing schools, distributing educational materials and sponsoring people on scholarships to study medicine and surgery in South America.
“I’m urging other elected lawmakers to emulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu for attracting projects to their constituencies. When I was in the House of Assembly, I did the same for my people in Ohafia South State Constituency.
“I love my new party. It is time for others to join the APC. I appreciate the Chairman of APC in Ohafia L.G.A., the Chairman of Isiama ward and other leaders of our party.”
The former Deputy speaker in May 24th 2017 joined the PDP from APGA where he was elected to represent ohafia south in the 6th Abia state House of Assembly.
He became the deputy speaker in the 7th Abia State House of Assembly but was allegedly impeached after he masterminded the impeachment of Rt Hon Chinedum Enuinnaya Orji
