The Wife of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mrs Adaeze Emetu, has assured members of Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, SWAN Umuahia chapter of support in their forthcoming Pad A Girl Project.
Speaking when she received in audience, members of SWAN, the female wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN in her office in Umuahia, Mrs Emetu said that apart from supporting them with organic sanitary pads for the project, that her foundation, Adaeze Emetu Care Foundation will also be ready to collaborate with SWAN.
She seized the opportunity to appreciate the humanitarian services embarked upon by the association.
Presenting an address earlier, the chairperson of SWAN Umuahia chapter, Mrs Nnenna Mba, disclosed that apart from their jobs as accountants, that they also engage in humanitarian services like organizing workshops for people, enablement and empowerment programmes geared towards making the beneficiaries to be self reliant, and also visiting the motherless, indigent and the downtrodden.
She further disclosed that SWAN operates a scheme known as Accounts Technicians Scheme, where brilliant indigent students are trained to become professionals.
