The wife of the Abia State Deputy Governor, Mrs Adaeze Emetu has lauded Ugwu Nkpa Community Development Union, UCDU Women’s wing for their humanitarian and development oriented programmes.

Speaking when she received the UCDU executive led by their President General, Mrs Iheoma Mazi, in her office in Umuahia, Mrs Emetu, said such programmes apart from helping the community to develop, it also assist greatly in crime rate reduction.

She also seized the opportunity to appreciate the positive and supportive role they played during the last election in the state.

Earlier in her address, the President General of Ugwu Nkpa Community Development Union Women’s wing, Mrs Iheoma Mazi, solicited the presence of Mrs Emetu to their women’s conference slated to hold on the 24th day of August 2024.

She said that UCDU executive has through the collective efforts of the entire Ugwu Nkpa women, awarded scholarships to all primary school pupils; assisted in payment of salaries of teachers employed by the community; empowered some indigent women and renovated teachers quarters and corpers lodge.

While also disclosing plans of commissioning projects executed by the women, free medical outreach, health education among others during the year 2024 women’s conference, Mrs Mazi further disclosed that Ugwu Nkpa women have over the years been outstanding in their roles in complementing the efforts of the men in the development of their community.
