Former Governor of Abia state and Senator Representing Abia North senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has made a case for the industrialization of Nnewi, Aba and south East in General.
Senator Kalu who spoke during the Senate plenary said Manufacturers in Nnewi and Aba need steel to meet with global competition.
According to him, if the manufacturers in Aba had steel today they will produce so many things, including solar power, he further stated that most of the Solar used in Nigeria today are made in Aba, including AK47 machine guns are produced in Aba.
He said “We are relying on importation. If you go to China, everybody is making China the way house of their village, why don’t we make Aba and Nnewi the way house.
He continued these boys can manufacture everything, but they require steel they can’t get it, if we have steel today there is nothing made in China that can’t be made in Aba, the Rice mill, the solar, Aba people are manufacturing some solar, and it is said to be made in China, but it is made in Aba, Aba people manufacture AK-47 that’s the truth, is no longer news that we should face the steel Revolution”.
Senator Kalu while supporting a bill presented by his colleague senator Ibrahim said Abala in Obingwa LGA of Abia State produces guns.
