The Abia State PDP 2023 governorship candidate, Chief Okey Ahiwe has expressed profound sympathy with the Nigerian Army, particularly the families of soldiers reportedly killed in an attack on a military checkpoint at Okpulo Umuola, Obikabia Junction Aba North LGA, Abia State on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Chief Ahiwe, while condemning the attack, called on authorities of security agencies to apply superior intelligence and tactics towards ensuring the safety of security personnel whose lives matter as much as the lives of citizens they strive to protect.
He charged all cadres of security managers to be even more courageous in their task, while calling on Abians and Nigerians at large to volunteer as active partners with relevant agencies in the all-important task of maintaining public peace and security.
Chief Ahiwe prayed that God Almighty would comfort the families of the slain soldiers, and further stressed the need for everyone to honour their sacrifice by standing firm to push for justice in their remembrance.
