The Organized Labour in Abia State have started mobilizing it’s members ahead of a national industrial action which will start at the early hours of Monday 3rd June 2023.
In a release signed by the Secretary of NLC, Com.Pst.Emma Alozie (JP) the organized Labour in Abia state will be joining its colleagues nationwide to push for the implementation of the new national minimum wage and a reduce in the electricity tariff hike.

TO ALL INDUSTRIAL UNIONS.
RE: NOTICE OF INDUSTRIAL ACTION.
The Organized Labour in the state rising from its meeting this evening resolved as follows:
1. That the strike action will start on Monday, 3rd June 2024 as slated by the joint National Headquarters of the Organized Labour (NLC&TUC).
2. That by this notice, all industrial unions are mandated to start sensitization and mobilization of their members.
3. That, for effective monitoring, unions would be grounded with areas of coverage within the period of the strike.
4. That besides the grouping, the State Monitoring Team will be on ground to monitor the groups.
5. That the names of unions that will default would be forwarded to the National Headquarters .
6. That all the groups will be headed by the leadership of the unions assigned to the group.
7. That the various groups will be joined by TUC members.
The Groups:
1. NCSU & NUPPPPROW to cover the State Secretariat and Abia News Papers.
2. MHWUN & NANNM to cover FMC, HMB & HEALTH CENTERS
3. NULGE to cover LGAs, LGSC & CHIEFTAINCY AFFAIRS.
4. RATTAWU & NUJ to cover, BCA and all other Radio and television houses in Abia.
5. JUSUN & NUPSRAW to cover, Ministry of Justice, all the courts & Judicial Service Commission.
6. PASAN & NURW to cover, Abia House of Assembly and HOS office.
7. NUAAE & NUPTE to cover, Ministry of Agriculture and Post Office.
8. NAAT, ASSU & SSANU to cover, all the High Institutions
9. SSANIP, NASU, NUT to cover, all Secondary, Primary and Private Schools.
10. AUPCTRE, NUEE & NUHPS to cover, Sports Council, EEDC/NERC offices and Abia Line Transport.
11. NURTW, TRICYCLE/ MOTORCYCLE UNIONS to cover all transport companies, motorcycle and Keke Napep.
All Aba based unions should cover entire Aba axis. The Aba team will be headed by Com. John Onaga and Com. Nkechinyere Agwuncha. They’re expected to forward their daily report to the State Council Secretariat.
Meanwhile, other unions will be scheduled tomorrow.
Consequently, the earlier scheduled SEC meeting on Monday, 3rd June by 10am, will now hold by 3pm the same day to access the first day action.
Meanwhile, the following members of the State Monitoring Team are to meet tomorrow, Sunday 2nd June 2024 by 4pm. Attendance is mandatory:
