Abuja, Nigeria

The Senate has swiftly approved the National Minimum Wage Bill, setting the wage at ₦70,000, as requested by President Bola Tinubu. The bill, transmitted on Tuesday, received expedited consideration and passed through its first, second, and third readings in quick succession.

In addition to approving the new wage, the Senate also shortened the national minimum wage review period from five years to three years. This change aims to ensure more frequent assessments and adjustments to better reflect economic conditions and the needs of Nigerian workers.
