In a recent internal circular issued by the Office of the Director of Administration, the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, has announced a strict prohibition on cryptocurrency mining and related trading activities during working hours.

The directive, dated 18th September 2024, stems from complaints received from patients and their relatives, highlighting concerns that staff members were engaging in cryptocurrency activities, which distracted them from performing their primary duties.

According to the circular signed by Adamu Usman Tela, Deputy Director of Administration, the hospital’s management has warned that it will take “drastic action” against any staff found violating the directive. This action will be in accordance with the Public Service Rules. The hospital has already deployed SERVICOM, ACTU, and security officers to monitor compliance and ensure the directive is strictly followed.

Staff members are advised to focus on their duties with diligence and seriousness. The management emphasized that any deviation from this directive will attract appropriate sanctions.

The circular concluded by urging all employees to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and to avoid engaging in non-work-related activities during working hours.
