The Member Representing Isiala Ngwa North and South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, has accused Senator Augustine Akobundu, who represents Abia Central Senatorial District, of stealing the Senate mandate of Hon. Darlington Nwokocha through the court.
Speaking during the Abia Central Labour Party tour in Ikwuano Local Government Area, Onwusibe stated, “A thief came and stole our Senate position, that’s why your brother, who stole our senatorial position, has not been seen anywhere. He is yet to do a project, and even the PDP is looking for him.”
Onwusibe further declared, “We can never recognize him as our senator. The days are gone when someone can lose an election in their area, be rejected by their people, and then use the judiciary to impose themselves on the electorate. We are saying no to that.”
It is worth recalling that in November 2023, the Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Senator Augustine Akobundu, sacking Hon. Darlington Nwokocha and declaring Akobundu as the duly elected Senator representing Abia Central.
