The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of voting time in areas of Edo State where the governorship election commenced late.
In a statement issued from the Commission’s situation room in Abuja, INEC acknowledged that while voting began on time in many polling units, there were reports of delays in others.
To ensure that no voter is disenfranchised, INEC reiterated that voting will continue in affected areas until every voter in the queue by 2:30 PM has cast their ballot, in line with its Regulations and Guidelines.
Additionally, the Commission has directed its Edo State office to ensure that back-up electric generators are available in polling units and ward collation centers where necessary.
