Ahead of Local Government Council elections in Abia state, the Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) has vowed to resist any attempt to subvert the will of the electorate through electoral fraud.
The Chairman of the party in Abia state, Dr. Uwalaka Onyekachi who disclosed this in Umuahia, the state capital over the weekend, revealed that the party has received classified reports that all is now set for the Labour Party (LP)-led administration to manipulate the electoral process.
He alleged that the state Government has concluded plans with Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) to write results against the wishes of the electorate.
Dr. Uwalaka cautioned that it would no longer be business as usual, adding that the party is set and would deploy everything at their disposal to resist any form of election rigging in the November 2, 2024 LG elections.
The party chieftain urged Prof. George Chima-led ABSIEC and other stakeholders to resist the temptation of election rigging and play by the rules to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process.
Uwalaka who also described Abia as a medium-level risk area in terms of election violence, further underscored the importance of compliance with electoral laws and regulations to forestall violence during and after the election.
He reiterated that Rev. Olusegun Peters-led ACC is committed towards strengthening democracy and its tenets at grassroots.
He urged Abians to shun all forms of violence, noting that their party would continue to support a smooth and democratic process.
