…Denies Health Rumors

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is currently on leave, dismissing reports suggesting he is incapacitated due to ill health.

Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, clarified the situation, stating that the leadership structure remains intact, with Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim, the Army’s Chief of Policy and Plans, acting on behalf of the COAS during his absence.

Nwachukwu emphasized that the Army is following established protocols to ensure smooth operations in Lagbaja’s absence, dismissing rumors of a leadership vacuum. “Claims of a leadership vacuum are mere speculation,” he said. “All routine and scheduled activities of the service are on course.”

The Army assured the public that its operations will not be affected by the COAS’ leave, as proper procedures were implemented before his departure.
