Nigerian forward Boniface Victor has officially announced his retirement from international football. The announcement was made via his Instagram page, where the player expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country.
Boniface, who made 15 appearances for the Super Eagles without scoring a goal, described playing for Nigeria as both an honour and a dream fulfilled.
He wrote on Instagram “Proud to play for my country and a dream for me also, really enjoyed every moment — the good and the bad. Thanks a lot, thank you all. I done hang boot,”
His decision to step away from national duties comes as a surprise to many fans, particularly as the 24-year-old remains active at club level. Boniface did not disclose the reasons behind his early exit from international football.
While his time with the Super Eagles may not have been prolific in terms of goals, Boniface’s dedication and work ethic earned him respect among teammates and supporters.
He also went ahead to remove his Nigerian heritage from his Twitter profile.
