President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled official visit to Kaduna State and will instead visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The decision underscores the President’s commitment to addressing the protracted crisis in Benue, which has led to numerous deaths and widespread destruction across several communities.
According to the Presidency, the visit to Benue is aimed at fostering peace and finding sustainable solutions to the persistent violence in the state. President Tinubu is expected to meet with key stakeholders—including traditional rulers, political leaders, religious and community figures, as well as youth groups—to chart a path forward for lasting peace.
In a proactive move ahead of the visit, the President has already dispatched high-level officials to Benue State. These include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees.
During his stay, President Tinubu will also hold a town hall meeting with stakeholders to hear directly from the people and reinforce the federal government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.
President Tinubu has consistently condemned the violence in Benue State and has urged all parties to embrace peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and those who have suffered as a result of the ongoing crisis.
Initially, the President was expected to be in Kaduna on Wednesday, June 18, to commission several state government projects. That visit has now been rescheduled to Thursday, June 19, 2025.
