The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has debunked reports alleging that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to his son.
In a statement on Thursday, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister, described the claim as “another falsehood from quack journalists whose job is to malign the Minister.”
According to Olayinka, not a single plot of land has been allocated to any of Wike’s children. “In Asokoro and Maitama of today, where can the FCT Minister see 2,082 hectares of land to allocate to anyone?” he queried, emphasizing that such reports are a result of poor journalism and lack of professionalism.
He challenged the publisher of the report to produce any evidence of land allocation bearing the name of any of Wike’s children.
Clarifying the reference to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited in the publication, Olayinka explained that the company received land strictly for agricultural purposes in the Bwari Area Council, not Maitama or Asokoro.
He added, “Even though it is the right of the Minister and his family to own land anywhere in Nigeria provided due process is followed, no such allocation has been made to any of his children.”
The aide urged the public to disregard the report, describing it as malicious and baseless.
