Dr. Abubakar Malami, SAN (CON), the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement released on Tuesday, Dr. Malami cited “wide consultations and deep personal reflection” as the basis for his move, stressing that it was not driven by anger or ambition, but rather a profound concern for the challenges facing Nigerians.

“Nigeria is bleeding,” Malami stated, pointing to rising insecurity, widespread poverty, high food prices, and the government’s focus on political propaganda over real solutions. “The poor can no longer feed their families. Jobs are disappearing. Young people are hopeless.”

Dr. Malami criticized what he described as a breakdown of governance and the abandonment of meritocracy in political appointments. According to him, national interest has been sacrificed on the altar of personal and political gains.
