Abuja, Nigeria The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed any prospects of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi returning to power, stating unequivocally that “his time has passed.”

Wike made the remarks during a Thanksgiving service organized by the FCT Administration to thank God for the successful inauguration of several key projects in the capital.

Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State Governor criticized Obi for his recent comments questioning the state of democracy in Nigeria.

“Peter Obi can never be president again; his time has passed,” Wike declared. “He’s now saying that democracy is no longer working in Nigeria because he’s no longer in power. But when he was Governor of Anambra, democracy was working.”

The FCT Minister’s comments have sparked reactions across political and public circles, with many interpreting them as a continuation of the deepening rivalry among Nigeria’s opposition figures.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has been vocal about what he describes as a decline in democratic values and governance in the country.

As of the time of this report, Obi has not officially responded to Wike’s remarks.
