The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has expressed serious concern over the delay in the release of funds and the payment of staff salaries in Federal Tertiary Institutions across the country over the past eight months.
In a statement issued by the Union’s National President, Shammah Kpanja, ASUP linked the delay to the recent transition from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform.

Kpanja appealed to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to urgently intervene, noting that the prolonged wait has left many of their members financially distressed, forcing them into borrowing and mounting debts.
The Union warned that if the situation persists, it may direct its members to withdraw from duties in all affected Federal Polytechnics and sustain the action until all outstanding salaries are paid. ASUP also hinted at adopting a similar approach at the end of each month if the delay continues.
