Delivering the ruling on Tuesday morning, the court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, stating that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case that would necessitate a defence from the accused.

Fayose, who had been on trial for alleged money laundering and fraud during his tenure as governor, was first arraigned by the EFCC several years ago. After prolonged legal proceedings, the court ruled that the evidence presented by the anti-graft agency was insufficient to sustain the charges.

The judgment marks a significant legal victory for the former governor, effectively bringing the high-profile case to a close.
