Abuja — The term “Nigeria Fire Service” surged on Google Trends today following the announcement that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), effective August 14, 2025.

The appointment was confirmed in an official statement released by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) and signed by its secretary, Abdulmalik Jibrin. Adeyemi’s elevation comes ahead of the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who will bow out on August 1, 2025, upon reaching the statutory age of 60.
DCG Adeyemi, who transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service, has risen through the ranks and currently serves as the Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources. He is recognized for his commitment to excellence and has completed various mandatory in-service and command courses both locally and internationally.
