Abuja — Nigerian lawyer and activist, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, has taken a swipe at the former Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, over his son’s graduation from a university in the United Kingdom.

Adeyanju, a graduate of Baze University — a private institution founded by Dr. Baba-Ahmed — criticized the decision to send the child abroad for studies while owning what he described as an “extremely expensive and good private university” in Nigeria.

Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adeyanju wrote:

“A New Nigeria is possible took his kid to UK for education when he has an extremely expensive and good private university. They don’t believe in Nigeria but they have their audience.”

The comment, seen by many as a veiled mockery of the Labour Party’s popular slogan “A New Nigeria is Possible,” has sparked fresh debates about the consistency of Nigerian elites and political figures in promoting local institutions.

Dr. Baba-Ahmed is a strong advocate for educational reform and local development.
