The High Court in Gwagwalada, located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has handed down a two-year prison sentence to an impostor claiming to be a senator, named Tom Makwe, for deceiving a Spanish individual out of a sum of 47,082 Euros.

The individual was brought before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly committing two offenses related to attempting to deceive others online.

He admitted to the offense and humbly requested the court to be merciful.

Shafa has directed that the N30 million and 1,300 dollars retrieved from the offender should be handed over to the victim, Maria Del Rosario San Jose Garces, through the Spanish embassy in Nigeria. The proof of forfeiture should be submitted to the court registrar within two weeks.

He requested that the possessions found in possession of the convict, such as a black Camry 2017 model car, Samsung S 23, Apple iPhone 13 cellphone, and HP Elitebook, be confiscated by the government. The funds generated from their sale should then be sent to the victim via the Spanish embassy in Nigeria.
