In a statement issued by the Presidency, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his predecessor and directed Vice President Shettima, alongside the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to travel to the United Kingdom for the dignified repatriation of Buhari’s body.
The late President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria as its democratically elected leader from 2015 to 2023. He had earlier held office as military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
As part of national mourning, President Tinubu has ordered that flags be flown at half-mast across the country in honour of the departed statesman.
