Port Harcourt — The Rivers State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of 46-year-old Barrister Bright Owhor, who was gruesomely killed by unidentified gunmen on July 6, 2025, at his residence on 40c Market Road, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt.

In a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command disclosed that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, through a combination of intelligence gathering and technical surveillance, apprehended all seven individuals linked to the heinous crime within ten days.

 

Those arrested include:

 

Prince Samuel (30) – alleged armed operative

 

Daniel Godwin (25) – alleged getaway driver

 

Henry Peter (24) – alleged arms supplier and the one who reportedly shot the victim

 

Godfrey Emmanuel a.k.a. Ibu (30) – alleged gang leader

 

Chukwu Nneji (34)

 

Justice Dimkpa (27)

 

Promise Wikere (22) – alleged handler of stolen vehicles

 

 

The suspects, according to police investigations, are members of the Deygbam Secret Cult Group. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to their involvement in the murder, unlawful withdrawals from the victim’s bank account, and their roles in recent cult clashes between the BS and G12 factions of Deygbam in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

 

The following items were recovered from the suspects:

 

One MTN SIM card

 

Four locally made pistols

 

Seven rounds of 9mm ammunition

 

Two live cartridges

 

One mini bus

 

One Toyota Camry

 

 

Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, lauded the swift response and operational efficiency of the officers involved, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of residents. He emphasized that the arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle cultist and criminal networks in the state.

 

The Rivers State Police Command assured the public that justice will be served and urged continued cooperation from citizens in the fight against crime.
